There was a time, not too long ago, when videos of some of best drones were all over social media. People were so excited about this new gizmo that many immediately ran to the nearest mall and purchased one for themselves.
This fad has been largely extinguished since these devices are still a popular sight in many households all over the world. Although primarily utilized by professionals for aerial surveillance, mineral exploration, and disaster relief, amateurs can also use them for their own basic video needs.
This wide range of uses is a huge reason for its popularity and why there are so many options available on the market. Flexibility is all fine and good, but it can also pose a hindrance for buyers, especially those that are not so familiar with the subject matter.
To help simplify this decision, I’d like to share my insights on a particular model I feel is of excellent quality, and something I hope you seriously consider buying. Read on below for our Altair Blackhawk Review.
One of the best things about the Altair Blackhawk is its long range ability to be controlled from up to 500-meters away. Thanks to its highly improved operating system, it can reach greater heights and further lengths without much problem.
Attempting these distances on a different drone would be the equivalent of a suicide mission; but thanks to its patented technology, you are in control 100% of the time. Considering its affordable price, this is definitely one of the best drones and is something awesome to have.
Another cool thing about this is its heightened battery life. This possesses the power to last for up to 15 minutes on the medium throttle without needing to land. It provides a perfect compliment to the enhanced panels to help increase efficiency altogether.
Having this feature means you can fully take advantage of its controls. Just be sure you time yourself properly to avoid the drone losing juice and suddenly falling from the sky. The last thing you want to do is fish it out from the sea, or at least what’s left of it.
When using a piece of equipment like this, one of the worst things that can happen is it suddenly wobbles, get blown around by the wind, and eventually breaks down. But thanks to its 6-axis gyro, this occurrence is vastly lessened.
The Blackhawk comes equipped with six gyroscopes founds on each of its sides. This helps improve its balance, especially during strong winds or inclement weather. Regardless of the condition, except in extreme cases, of course, you can be sure that its stable in almost all of the time.
As you begin to fly this marvelous piece of machinery, one of the first things you’ll notice is how fast it gets within a limited amount of time. Armed with a strategically designed frame, four metal propellers, and an innovative brushless motor, it has the sheer aerial supremacy to cover great distances and blow by everything in its path.
This isn’t surprising, as its manufacturers have shared how they patterned the Altair Aerial Blackhawk after more advanced racing drones. If you’re the type of person that loves driving things really rapidly, then this is a perfect toy for you.
Additionally, despite its high speeds, this machine is incredibly easy to control. This is a feature worth mentioning because it very rarely loses control when being flown.
While this doesn’t come with a built-in action camera, it does provide you with a space to mount one on. The good thing about this set-up is you don’t have to use a GoPro Hero; any generic brand will do fine. Just be sure that it’s the right size and snugly fits on the holder.
To avoid any errors, I would suggest that you buy this drone first before investing in any specific action camera. This way, you can test it and see how it fixes.
Overall, I like how user-friendly this particular selection us. The remote is incredibly easy to understand and is great for beginners. All you’ll really need to master is the timing, but other than that, everything else is pretty rudimentary.
There’s an on button right smack in the middle, toggle switches that manage the direction, and another level for the speed. It even comes with buttons for additional movements. Just practice regularly and you should get the hang of things in no time.
Aside from that, another commendable aspect of the Altair Aerial Blackhawk is its aerodynamic design. It’s heavier compared to other alternatives, but its body is sturdy enough to withstand strong winds.
There are even numerous gaps around its guards, which allow more air to pass through. This helps maintain its stability and lessens resistance so it can go faster.
There is no explicit statement on warranty, but according to the Altair Aerial website, they accept returns (except for user-initiated damages) for up to 30 days. For any concerns about this product, you can just message them directly. Based on experience, they reply at a reasonable rate.
As for the spare parts, their company actually sells them online. Should you encounter any issues, just order and it will be shipped directly to your home within a few days.
After going through our review, we can come to the conclusion that while far from spotless, Altair Blackhawk provides enough value to warrant my seal of approval. After all, with an affordable average price point of $110, you could do much worse than buying this.
